Abstraction is hiring a Lead Character Artist for AAA co-development projects. You’d turn concept art into characters and creatures, set them up in Unreal Engine and review the character team’s work.
The role still involves making key assets yourself. I’d look closely at that if you want a lead position that combines creating characters with giving feedback and organising production.
Remote doesn’t mean every country
The studio offers employment contracts in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. It also hires freelancers in approved countries, but explicitly excludes freelance contractors in Germany, Spain, Italy, France and the US. Germany appears in both statements because the contract types are different.
Experience: Seven or more years in character art, including senior or lead work on shipped AAA games.
Portfolio: Realistic human anatomy and creatures.
Work: Sculpting, game-ready models, textures, Unreal implementation and team reviews.
Pay: No salary figure is published.
I’d check the contract and country restrictions before putting an application together. The listing’s broad “Remote” label doesn’t settle eligibility.
Checked 16 October 2026. Confirm eligibility, terms and availability directly with the employer. Logo: Abstraction.
