BioShock’s 2002 pitch described the project as a spiritual successor to System Shock 2. This is an early proposal by Ken Levine and colleagues, not a design document for the game exactly as it shipped in 2007.

One reason I’ve included it: the archive identifies a complex weapon-modification system among the ideas that changed before release. The document lets you compare what Irrational originally proposed to a publisher with the systems players eventually used.

Irrational released the material in two blog posts in 2010. The Video Game History Foundation now preserves most of that original pitch, so this shouldn’t be described as a complete production archive.
